Coaches Information

Attention RYHA Coaches

03/15/2006 - If the latest date on the back of your coache's card is 03/04, your coaches card will expire August 31, 2006. Please make sure to sign up for the appropriate class in order to obtain a current card. For classes check in the District 8 website through Stickstats or Minnesota Hockey. You can also check with Doug Zmolek.

Remember that all coaches (head and assistants) at the Squirt, Peewee, Bantam, and Jr. Gold levels must have at least an associate level card. If you do not get this certification you will not be allowed to coach this year. RYHA will reimburse the cost of one coaching clinic per coach per season.

All coaches with the associate level coaching degree must attend the intermediate coaching clinic. (Associate level degrees are valid for ONLY one year; intermediate levels are valid for three years.) DON’T MISS OUT!!!

All Ice Scheduling Meetings are Mandatory for Head Coaches. All Head Coaches not attending will face suspension per MAHA - District 8 Administration.

No Bantam games will be scheduled the week of high school tryouts.

Youth (new USA Hockey terminology for boys) and Girls teams are allowed to share ice for practice; however, both teams will adhere to the “no checking rule.”

For any in district scrimmages during tryouts, a list of players MUST be turned in to Kim Amundson prior to play. Does not apply for Rochester versus Rochester team play.

All players will be given a flag sticker to place on their helmets to show their patriotism compliments of Rochester Youth Hockey.

League Games
All scores must be called in 48 hours after game is played, except last week of season, then it will be 24 hours.

Winning team is responsible for calling in the scores. In case of a tie, the Home team will call in the score. If the score is not called in within 48 hours, the game is declared a forfeit. The scores can also be e-mailed to rrakness@comcast.net . Make sure to include the

When calling in the score, give the following information:
A. Level of Play (Bantam A, Squirt B, etc.)
B. Score

Remember Game changes must be made 2 weeks in advance of game. There will be a $25.00 fee assessed per game change. The only exception is weather related, then all fees are waived. Please remember to notify the District of any weather related game changes so the referees can be informed.



District 8 / MAHA Rule Changes - These are rule changes that received special emphasis at the District Meetings.

Crowd Control - The referee can issue a bench minor and/or stopping the play of the game, but not the clock, until the situation is under control. The Head Coach is responsible for the conduct of the team, parents and fans.

Icing - The puck can now go through the crease and icing will be called.

4 on 3 Penalty - In all cases following the scoring of a goal, the player with the least time remaining on their penalty, will have the penalty expired and the player will return to ice.

Avoidable Hit - Players will be called for checking a player when the player with the puck does not have control of the puck.

Gross Misconduct (Match) - Player(s) must sit until they have attended a hearing by the District. The player can not play in games, tournaments or attend practices until the hearing has been conducted. This should not be confused with a Game Misconduct (Fighting).
